Wonderful experience here getting a sewing machine looked at! It is an older model of my late grandmas from the 70s. I am quite the novice and could not figure out why it wasn't working the way it was supposed to. I brought it into Arla's to have it looked at. She was beyond helpful and also gave me tips on how to thread my machine (again, novice here so she could tell the tricks were going to be useful for me)! Not only was the service above and beyond, as she ended up finding the reason it wasn't working properly and fixing it, she also was extremely kind and pleasant to work with. First visit to this cozy, cute quilt and sewing machine shop. Arla's fabrics are nicely organized and her machines are displayed attractively. She gets new fabric in frequently, so you'll have to drop in to see what she's got :) Lots of blenders and novelty fabrics in a WIDE price range. Something for everyone! Many patterns for sale to help you make the perfect project. Her quilt samples provide great inspiration. Display cases full of buttons and other goodies and notions. She sells Elna machines and sergers and embroidery machines! She will help you learn all about your new machine and is a great educator. She's a happy, honest, cheerful, friendly shop owner - you have to meet her! Good lighting. Parking right out front in this charming Iowa town. Easy access. If you live in Iowa, drive over the steel bridge (!!!!) to Wisconsin, over the Mississippi River, for the unique experience and to see the National wetlands. Take your time and appreciate the beauty. Don't do it in a blizzard, however, like I did... Highly recommended, tell your friends! Well worth the trip!
